iStereo70 5.2

iStereo70 is a specialized application for iPhone and iPad designed to facilitate the conversion of coordinates between the Stereo70 projection system and WGS84 (ETRS89). It also offers the capability to verify locations on an integrated map, provided an internet connection is available.

Stereo70 is a projection system employed in Romanian cartography for non-military large and medium-scale topographic mapping and engineering surveys. Its parameters are defined based on data provided by the National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (ANCPI).

The application performs a series of transformations utilizing ANCPI parameters to accurately convert coordinates between Stereo70 and WGS84 systems:

1. Conversion from Stereo70 X, Y coordinates to geographic coordinates B, L in Krasovsky1940 datum.
2. Transformation from Krasovsky1940 B, L to WGS84 B, L (DMS).
3. Reverse transformations are also supported, enabling conversion from WGS84 (DMS) back to Stereo70 coordinates via intermediate steps.

For optimal precision, it is recommended to input coordinates with at least two decimal places.

Recent enhancements include:

• Improved accuracy with up to three decimal places, representing one of the highest precisions available on iOS.
• The ability to select the current device location as a starting point.
• Interactive map feature allowing users to select specific points.
• Option to save frequently used locations for future reference.
• Dark mode interface for better usability in low-light conditions.
